A portion of all rental fees are used to provide a scholarship at the Clavet Composite High School to support post secondary trade education.
MAINTENANCE
Regular maintenance is critical to ensure the safety, reliability, drivability, comfort and longevity of a vehicle. During preventive maintenance a number of parts and fluids are replaced to avoid major damage or for safety reasons: e.g. timing belt replacement, transmission fluid, brake fluid, spark plugs...etc.
Anyone who's ever worked on vehicles or spent a ton of money getting their vehicle repaired will tell you: "Don't ignore preventive maintenance." The basics, like fluid exchanges, checking tire pressure, and getting scheduled maintenance and inspections done are like getting regular checkups at the doctor. Doctors keep you healthy like a Technician can monitor the health of your vehicle giving you – and the experts - a chance to catch anything serious before it becomes a major problem.
The actual schedule of vehicle maintenance varies depending on the year, make, and model of a vehicle, its driving conditions and driver behavior. Vehicle manufacturers recommend the ideal service schedule based on impact parameters such as:
- Number of trips and distance traveled per trip per day
- Extreme hot or cold climate conditions
- Mountainous, dusty or de-iced roads
- Heavy stop-and-go traffic vs. long-distance cruising
- Towing a trailer or other heavy load
SGI INSPECTIONS / REGISTRATIONS
SGI’s vehicle inspection programs are in place to ensure all vehicles are maintained to the appropriate safety standards as required by law. Vehicle inspections improve vehicle safety and enhance the safety of the general motoring public.
SGI and enforcement officers have the authority to subject any vehicle to a test or inspection, or require that specific repairs be completed. If you're asked to have your vehicle inspected or repaired bring it to us and we will get you back on the road as soon as possible. You can also register your vehicle right here in our office with one of our SGI Motor Licence Issuers after your inspection and repairs are complete.
WARNING LIGHTS & REPAIRS
Has a dashboard warning light in your vehicle come on recently? You may think it’s nothing if your car is driving fine, but these warning lights are there for a reason. The first dash warning lights warned only of emissions related concerns, charging system faults and oil pressure. Today vehicles use dash warning lights for all kinds of malfunctions. One vehicle could have 10, 15, 20 or more warning lights. Simply plugging in a scan tool no longer identifies the cause of the problem, it just points in the right direction. After that specialized training and equipment take over. Your vehicle’s computer is constantly monitoring the performance of your vehicle’s various systems.
If there is an issue in one or more of your vehicle’s systems, dashboard warning lights come on to notify you that there is a problem. Ignoring these dashboard warning lights can lead to drivability problems, component failures and vehicle damage.
Be safe and have one of our trained professional technicians look at your vehicle if dash warning lights are:
- On solid
- Flashing
- Red in colour
At Clavet Service we have the training, experience, software and tools necessary to properly perform a full diagnostic check on your vehicle. The first step we take involves scanning your vehicle’s onboard computer. This allows us to retrieve computer codes, freeze frame data, software version information, sensor data and status information.
As required by all manufacturers, we will begin pinpoint testing the system in your vehicle that the fault is present in to accurately determine the problem. We perform electrical and mechanical tests, bi-directional control tests and inspections of suspicious areas. We also check waveforms of the applicable sensors. We will also look for service bulletins that relate to the concern, that the manufacturer may have noted but has not issued a safety recall for.
Once we have isolated the problem with your vehicle, we will estimate the cost of performing the appropriate repairs, and contact you for approval. If parts are needed, our replacement parts will always meet or exceed manufacturer’s standards.
AUTO GLASS
If your windshield is chipped, it is vital that you get it repaired as soon as possible to avoid further damage and potential danger. A windshield chip could turn into a crack at any time, often when you are least expecting it. If this happens when you are driving, it could impair your visibility. Your windshield provides up to 30% of the vehicle's structural strength. The vehicles airbag system relies on the windshield to provide support if the airbags deploy, meaning that windshield chip repair is necessary to maintain the vehicles structural safety. Repairing a chip will result in your windshield being as strong as before the damage happened.
Clavet Service can repair stone chips, cracks, bruises and bulls eye damage. Auto glass repair is quicker and costs significantly less than replacing a whole windshield.
Clavet Service can also provide complete auto glass service for all makes and models, foreign and domestic, including SGI and SMI Insurance claims and vehicle glass policies. We replace on site:
- Windshields
- Mirrors
- Side and Rear Window Glass
HEADLIGHT RESTORATION
Plastic headlights help reduce vehicle weight and withstand impact, but oxidation and sunlight can dull the surface turning it yellow or leave it cloudy and scratched. This means the light from the headlights is diffused and not focused correctly on the roadway. This limits visibility, especially at night. Not only can the driver of the vehicle not see pedestrians, wildlife or the roadway as clearly, the vehicle is also less visible to other vehicles and pedestrians.
Here at Clavet Service - Auto Select we can restore your headlight lenses. Restoration will improve the overall safety of your vehicle by attaining optimum visibility as well as improving the look of your vehicle. Restoring your headlight lenses is more cost effective than replacing them with new and can be scheduled at your convenience.
- Increases effectiveness of headlights
- More line of sight distance with high beams
- Preserve your vehicle's looks
VEHICLE, RV, & BOAT STORAGE
